Corey Kent - Something’s Gonna Kill Me. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.
Corey Kent’s ‘Blacktop’ arrived last week, and fulfils the promises made by his first two albums, '21' and ‘From The West.’ It’s rootsy, unabashed, rockin, fun, sentimental, proud, catchy, and addictive. Summertime music to kick-start a raucous night out. The Oklahoma native with the Dallas upbringing and the Nashville polish is a guy who connects each of these experiences when he’s crafting his tunes. The 28-year-old’s rather recent success in country music still mystifies him a bit. “Oh man,” he told a red-carpet interviewer at this year’s CMT Awards, “this is overwhelming. A couple years ago I was working at a pavement company, just trying put food on the table for my kids and my wife.” No longer. Kent’s “Wild As Her” gained lots of ground on radio, and made a mark, like “Ain’t My Day” before it. The singer, who hit a state fair singing Western Swing tunes at the age of 11 and made a dent in 2017 as part of Blake Shelton’s team on ‘The Voice,’ is experiencing his biggest impact so far right now. He swung by our LA studio after a performance at the country music Coachella, the annual Stagecoach Fest in Indio, California. Sharing a bill with Kane Brown and Gabby Barrett ain't too bad. His fierce performance of “Something’s Gonna Kill Me” is a salute to living life to the fullest. You might have to stand back a bit for this one.
