When I first put out Care To Look last year, my hope was that it would inspire you to look between the lines of this life we’ve been given as a gift to live. Like I said before, there was a time when I took everything at face value- but as I’ve grown and stepped into the world of songwriting, I’ve come to realize that the best things in life are often the ones we miss the first time around.
To stay true to my words and to the nature of this project, I want to give y’all a deeper look into the stories behind these songs. Care To Look (Between The Lines) not only features commentary on my writing process and the songs themselves, but it also includes a work tape as a bonus track called “Selling Songs.”
It took over one hundred songs to find these six, and it only felt right to tell a little more of this story before moving on to the next chapter. After all, storytelling is what I do best.

"Sunday Morning Matinee (Without You)" Written by Keller Cox
Lyrics:
I’d watch the Sunday morning matinee Cause I might skip church I’d heat all my meals in the microwave And only listen to red dirts My skies wouldn’t be as blue My smile would be less true Without you
I wouldn’t press play on those rom-coms You know James Bond be on the screen I wouldn’t sip red wine, a six pack of light would be all that I need One nightstand instead of two I wouldn’t know what to do Without you
I’d be a ship without an anchor At the mercy of the tide Without you, I’d float around and just waste my time I’d be a pen in need of paper A song in need of rhyme A lone star with no Texas sky to shine Without you Love would never cross my mind
I’d stay out late and work Saturdays with nothing to come home to I’d snooze my alarms it’d be hard not waking up with you What would I turn into Would I even make it though Without you
I’d be a ship without an anchor At the mercy of the tide Without you, I’d float around and just waste my time I’d be a pen in need of paper A song in need of rhyme A lone star with no Texas sky to shine Without you Love would never cross my mind
Like Johnny needed June 1+1 needs me and you That’s the truth Cause without you
I’d be a ship without an anchor At the mercy of the tide Without you, I’d float around and just waste my time I’d be a pen in need of paper A song in need of rhyme A lone star with no Texas sky to shine Without you Without you Love would never cross my mind Oh it’d never cross my mind
