When I first put out Care To Look last year, my hope was that it would inspire you to look between the lines of this life we’ve been given as a gift to live. Like I said before, there was a time when I took everything at face value- but as I’ve grown and stepped into the world of songwriting, I’ve come to realize that the best things in life are often the ones we miss the first time around.
To stay true to my words and to the nature of this project, I want to give y’all a deeper look into the stories behind these songs. Care To Look (Between The Lines) not only features commentary on my writing process and the songs themselves, but it also includes a work tape as a bonus track called “Selling Songs.”
It took over one hundred songs to find these six, and it only felt right to tell a little more of this story before moving on to the next chapter. After all, storytelling is what I do best.

"Selling Songs (Work Tape)" Written by Keller Cox, Jason Earley, Braden Jamison
Lyrics:
Everyone’s got their own idea Of what I do when I clock in “Is it door to door with a notebook full of words?” They all ask if there’s one they know Playing on their fm radio “And how do you pay your bills when you don’t work?”
Well it’s six strings and five good buddies Playing four chords three minutes at a time And it’s two for one t-shirt gas money Do it all again night after night I work as hard as the day is long But they all think that I’m just selling songs
For every good one there’s fifteen bad Thinking for a thought nobody’s had And even when you find it, the timing’s gotta be just right And that mailbox money don’t come overnight So in the meantime
It’s six strings and five good buddies Playing four chords three minutes at a time And it’s two for one t-shirt gas money Do it all again night after night I work as hard as the day is long But they all think that I’m just selling songs
It’s blood sweat and tears one rhyme at a time Maybe I won’t make it big, then again maybe I might
Cause it’s six strings and five good buddies Playing four chords three minutes at a time And it’s two for one t-shirt gas money Do it all again night after night I work as hard as the day is long This work will keep living even after I’m gone But they all think that I’m just selling songs It’s more than just selling songs
