When I first put out Care To Look last year, my hope was that it would inspire you to look between the lines of this life we’ve been given as a gift to live. Like I said before, there was a time when I took everything at face value- but as I’ve grown and stepped into the world of songwriting, I’ve come to realize that the best things in life are often the ones we miss the first time around.
To stay true to my words and to the nature of this project, I want to give y’all a deeper look into the stories behind these songs. Care To Look (Between The Lines) not only features commentary on my writing process and the songs themselves, but it also includes a work tape as a bonus track called “Selling Songs.”
It took over one hundred songs to find these six, and it only felt right to tell a little more of this story before moving on to the next chapter. After all, storytelling is what I do best.

"Care To Look" Written by Keller Cox, Kerr Rudge, Luke Stevens
Lyrics:
There’s something ‘bout a rainbow That stops me in my tracks Are better days ahead Does it mean the storm has passed Do people on the interstate even notice it at all
There’s something ‘bout that stained glass And the way sunshine cuts through Is there a hidden message beyond its violet blue Sometimes I wonder if I could reach and read it, would it rearrange my point of view
I hear blue jays laughing in the trees Is that dogwood waving at me My black top turns to gravel I realize the more I travel That this more than meets the eye’s misunderstood I come to find I got it good When I care to look
There’s something ‘bout a photo The way it hangs onto a wall I wonder what it’d say if it could say something at all Would it tell me tap the brakes, take a breath, and take a moment to take it in
I hear blue jays laughing in the trees Is that dogwood waving at me My black top turns to gravel I realize the more I travel That this more than meets the eye’s misunderstood I come to find I got it good When I care to
Look at all the details in disguise Look at all the pain that's passing by Different people, different places, different stories, different faces Makes me wonder if we’re all just wasting time
When I hear blue jays laughing in the trees There’s that dogwood waving at me My black top turns to gravel I realize the more I travel That this more than meets the eye’s misunderstood I come to find I got it good Yeah I come to find I got it good When I care to look
