Watch our film of Shak’s recent visit to Colombia for the opening of FundaciĆ³n Pies Descalzos’ new school in Cartagena /// The sixth Pies Descalzos School is in the city of Cartagena, in the Caribbean Coast of Colombia, in the area of Lomas del Peye, a community integrated by 11 neighborhoods that has been constituted during the last 15 years as a consequence of internally displacements from the north of the country. That place has significant levels of poverty, rootlessness, lack of access to public services and low connection to the sewer system.
The School has a 14,000 meters terrain (located in a mountain) donated by the Municipality, currently the only space without settlements, that in the beginning was a area of 34,000 square meters with important presence of native vegetation.
