I used to say, “I don’t like white people.” And for a long time, I meant it. Or at least, I thought I did.
But life has always been a school of thought. You travel, you meet people, you see patterns repeat themselves in faces of all shades. And then it hits you—it was never about race. It was about a way of moving through the world. A mindset. An energy. The difference between culture and colonizer. Builders vs. takers. People who get it and people who never will.
I’m always for all things Afro centric. That’s never changing. My love for my people is deep, and my bias will always be toward seeing us win. But I’ve also learned that skinfolk ain’t always kinfolk—and that real alignment has more to do with mentality than melanin.
